Mailing Lists

We are very interested in hearing your opinion about DBpedia and getting ideas for further improvements.

Please send feedback and ideas to the DBpedia-discussion mailing list. This mailing list is the main forum for DBpedia related discussions.

If you just want to stay up-to-date about what is happening around DBpedia, you can subscribe to our low-traffic DBpedia-announcements mailing list.

Quality Assurance and Bug Tracking

To improve the DBpedia data quality we need your feedback.

• Did any problems occur when you loaded the data sets? What were they?
• Did you see any incorrect extractions in the data? What were they?
• Did you notice any undetected units, currencies, etc?
• Did any problems occur with list parsing? Where?

We try to extensively analyze the data sets, but also rely on the support of users and the community to establish a better extract-release cycle for the DBpedia data sets.

Please submit all known problems to the DBpedia bugtracker.

Please include:

• the data set in which you found the problem;
• the triples concerned;
• a description of the problem; and 
• how it should look (from your point of view)

We will try to come up with a solution, fix the extraction algorithms, and publish improved data sets as soon as possible.

One useful tool for stress-testing the extraction process is the Random DBpedia Page.

Development

The DBpedia Extraction framework tries to extract as much information as possible from Wikipedia. However, there are plenty of interesting facts on Wikipedia that are currently not included in DBpedia, for a variety of reasons.

The framework is easily extended and we offer the possibility to do this yourself, increasing the likelihood of your desired data being included in the next DBpedia release. The setup process and a guide to creating a new extractor can be found on the Famework documentation pages.

If you prefer, you can submit a feature request at Sourceforge. Remember that this is largely a volunteer effort, and requests may take some time to be satisfied.

Mappings Wiki

With the DBpedia 3.5 release, we introduced a public Mappings Wiki for writing infobox mappings, editing existing ones as well as editing the DBpedia ontology. This allows external contributors to define mappings for the infoboxes they are interested in and to extend the existing DBpedia ontology with additional classes and properties.
